I only wish my own awkward start in the field had been eased by a guide half as helpful as Mathew Kuefler's new History of Sexuality Sourcebook. Selecting his texts from diverse cultures and more than two millennia, Kuefler seeks to reach beyond sexuality specialists to historians and their students. Mathew Kuefler is an Associate Professor of History at San Diego State University and the Editor of the Journal of the History of Sexuality. He is the author of The Manly Eunuch: Masculinity, Gender Ambiguity, and Christian Ideology in Late Antiquity and the editor of The Boswell Thesis: Essays for the Twenty-Fifth Anniversary of John Boswell’s Christianity, Social Tolerance, and Homosexuality.
